About the orchestraThe orchestra performs one half of each concert, and tackles both mainstream and less familiar works in the Western repertoire, ranging from the classical symphonies of Mozart and Beethoven to the post-modern soundworld of Varèse's Octandre and Ives' The Unanswered Question. Currently residing under the direction of new conductor Daniele Rosina, the orchestra will soon be tackling Saint-Saens' remarkable Third Symphony, known as the "Organ" Symphony. New membersThe orchestra is always keen to recruit string players of a high standard (ABRSM Grade 7 minimum) who possess commitment and enthusiasm. Wind, brass and percussion players should apply directly to the conductor. The rehearsals are usually in the fortnight before each concert, and held in the Bournemouth area. About Daniele RosinaDaniele became interested in conducting at a very early age. Although studying clarinet, he found time to form and direct ensembles whilst at school, and at the age of 17 conducted the Bournemouth Youth Orchestra at the annual BSMA Carol Concert in the Winter Gardens. After studying clarinet with the late Anthony Godwin he is now at the Birmingham Conservatoire where he studies with Michael Harris. Daniele has studied conducting under Andrew Mogrelia since January 1999. He is presently Music Director of the Thallein Ensemble, who perform contemporary works, and the Composers' Ensemble performing works by conservatoire composers. He has also formed, together with another student, the Pelleas Ensemble, a chamber orchestra playing Classical and early Romantic music. Daniele is planning to take a post-graduate course in conducting after completing his studies at the Conservatoire. |
